Ruby Eden is a Manchester based painter who explores themes of memory and place through the depiction of space and objects, and their place within the domestic. She explores these themes primarily through paint however explores mono and lino print also. She is interested in our relationship to the notion of home as both a place and a concept, and her artwork begins with lived spaces that are personal to her, yet communicates them in with the intention of collective understanding. She explores the way in which the structural architecture of a space can mould light into shape and form, and these negative shapes often act as the foundation of her paintings. Her practice is an ongoing investigation into the interweaving relationship between the sensory, physical home and the ephemeral, intangible concepts we associate with it.
